What we eat, how we eat, when we eat…these are all choices but they’re choices that are strongly influenced by our culture and advertising. We’re bombarded by commercials, mountains of food that’s placed in front of us at restaurants and social events, not to mention volumes of misinformation. Sadly, too many of us have become overweight and unhealthy.
It’s time to take control of your destiny. Life is much more fun in a healthy, lean, strong body and getting there depends on your willingness to change the way you think. It’s time to move beyond the four letter word “diet” and start eating to your goals. As Stephen Covey would say, “Begin with the end in mind.” What do you want to look like? How do you want to feel? Imagine it in great detail. Write it down. It’s who you’re meant to be. Then, invest some time learning. Give yourself a health education.
My dad died from Alzheimer’s several years ago and I wondered if I could do anything to avoid the same path. I started doing some research which lead to a major shift in the way I think about food. I used to be in the low fat, complex carb camp. Gosh, I promoted that concept for decades, thinking it was the right thing to do. I was wrong. The more I learned and tried different ideas, the more empowered I felt. I realized that food is medicine and I have far more control over my health destiny than I could have imagined. Plus, I feel so great! I will blog about it, but my message to you today is….Read! Try Grain Brain by Perlmutter or Ketotarian by Will Cole.
Take control of your life. You’re worth it.
