As long as you are breathing it’s not too late. It’s not to late to join the challenge and it’s not too late to start over if you’ve had a few rough days. If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again…right? Yes, but we have to figure out what happened yesterday because those lessons make today better.
It could be argued that some of our habits are almost involuntary, just like blinking…well, not quite like that but close. They are automatic. When you get in the car, you either start the engine and then buckle your seat belt or you buckle your seat belt and then start the engine…but it’s the same everytime…and it’s automatic (please don’t tell me you don’t wear a seat belt!). Habits are like that…we have repeated them so many times that we don’t have to think…we just DO.
And that’s the challenge. Heading into the kitchen as soon as you walk into the house is a habit…it’s automatic. Eating in front of the TV is the same. We develop a compulsion toward our habits and often that’s a good thing. It’s great that the seat belt goes on automatically and that we look both ways before crossing the street, but it sucks when some of our habits work against us. This month you are facing some of them. It’s only supposed to take about 2 weeks to change a habit. Two weeks of replacing it with something else. So two weeks of staying focused on your goals CAN change you. No, it’s definitely not too late.
Tell me if you have used your mulligans and what happened…everyone wants to know. Just post it on this page in the comments section.
